From Django Reinhardt's 100th Birthday Special Edition - Patrick Mouloud

Four versions: April 21, 1937 (Paris). Two other versions: February 22, 1940 (Paris), November 28, 1947 (RTF, Paris).

The progression which characterises the first part of this theme, with it's downward chromatics bass line, closely related to the melody design, is one of the most beautiful finds of Django. The resolutely 'swing' content of the B section (in Major) contrasts, in a most effective way, with the 'Gypsy' accents of the A section.
