about

From Django Reinhardt's 100th Birthday Special Edition - Patrick Moulou

First version: September 11, 1941 (Paris). Two other versions: February 22, 1948 (Nice), January-February 1949 (Rome). The drummer Pierre Fouad tells us of the birth of this theme based on the cell of the Anatole, which will become a standard. 'Sometimes, Django would hum and, one particular evening, he says to me: 'Hey brother listen to me! I will sing like Armstrong'. And he came out with some onomatopoeias: 'Ah-dee-Ba, dee-Baa...' That's hoe he composed Swing 42, which we played that same evening at the cabaret, in order not to forget it.
