about

From Django Reinhardt's 100th Birthday Special Edition - Patrick Mouloud

A single version: December 14, 1937 (Paris, 2 takes).

Played first once in the Salle Gaveau in October 1937, in the presence of Reynaldo Hahn, before being recorded in December of the same year, then played, according to Charles Delaunay in the winter of 1941 (or 1943) in the Salle Pleyel with a wider formation (in the same program as the work by Ravel of the same name), this piece translates both Django's admiration for the famous composer (agonising at the time), and his own taste for symphonic experimentation.
